Common webserver actions
How a webserver works
Simply described, the webserver is doing the following, whenever a visitor makes a request:
- Receiving a request for a URL from the visitors browser.
- Loading the requested file from the appropriate storage server.
- Running programs, if necessary (the webserver may need to perform calculations, fetch data from a database etc. if the requested file contains programing that instructs to do so)
- Sending the response for the URL to the visitors browser (i.e. the website).
